FREEDOM FROM DRUG ADDICTION
“It’s unbelievable how blind we are to what is happening to us.”
I want to begin by giving praise and glory to God, my heavenly Father. There are many things for which I am grateful. Jesus Christ set me free from a life of deception and bondage to Satan. He can make things tantalizing to the carnal mind. He keeps us in bondage to addiction, promiscuity, gambling, the list is endless.
It is unbelievable how blind we are to what is happening to us when we are unsaved and not free. My life was a living hell for 2 1/2 years as an addict. Then Jesus set me free.
I get teary eyed every time I think about what he has done for me – the hell he went through for me, to rescue me from my hell. The day I received my salvation was the happiest day of my life. I am so thankful to God for sending Bob Bassler and New Life Recovery Center into my life. It has been over 3 years now and I continually strive to grow and be a better and better person. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life- this is true every time!
I found the life is just not worth living unless Jesus is in it. He must be the most important person in my life. I live for Jesus now and everything I do is for him.
There are still problems, trials, tribulations and temptations, the loss of loved ones, but don’t despair. God is always there to see us through. All the things we go through are to strengthen our faith and help us grow closer to God. Remember you are never alone. He is with you. I promise you that if you put your trust in Him, it will not be in vain.
My dear sweet father passed away July 14, 2004, and I miss him so much. Although I cry still when I think of him, I find comfort in the fact that he was saved right before he died. After I was set free, I talked both of my parents into going to see Bob Bassler to be set free.
My father suffered a lot of verbal and physical abuse as a child. He lost his dad when he was seven. His health problems were the result of years of mental anguish and emotional bondage. My dad saw Jesus manifest himself on my person before he died and I have never forgotten that. I was helping my mom drag some railroad ties to the back of the yard. Dad was watching us from the back door-he couldn’t help because of his health. As I was carrying a railroad tie, Dad saw Jesus in a white robe on my person and the railroad tie became a cross. Jesus turned and looked at him and my Dad could see the lash markings on him. Jesus told him that he appreciated my helping him carry the cross and that I was going to be fine from now on because I was with him, my Dad didn’t have to worry.
I cry tears of joy every time I tell this story. I have never been so happy as I am with Jesus. I don’t want to every do anything that would hurt or disappoint him. He has done so much for me!
He sent me a wonderful husband, whom I love dearly. His name is Danny and we have been married for two years and two months. Danny has brought so much joy to my life. We met at New Life Recovery Center. Our marriage was a divine intervention of the Lord. We have a beautiful home, four vehicles, a precious kitty, and we are praying for babies soon.
I want to give all our children back to God. Both Danny and I want to raise them for God so they too will serve him.
We are all brothers and sisters in the Lord and we need to stay strong in our faith. We need to read the Word of God daily, and keep pressing on and living for Jesus. Thank you for reading my testimony. I hope it has been a blessing to you.
May the Lord bless you,
Sylvia G. Florida
