I grew up on a beautiful Caribbean island with parents that sang in the choirs in a traditonal (not born again) church. My Dad was an alcoholic whose frequent affairs brought a lot of fighting and turmoil in our home. He was verbally abusive to us as children and physically and verbally abusive to our mother. Home life was devastating. Our home was open to various curses including poverty and incest: I was sexually abused for some time when I was 3 years old.
I’ve struggled all my life with what I call a private lust: constant lust-filled thoughts, masturbation, and pornography. At one point lesbianism wanted to take control of my life. Lesbians were trying to subtly coerce me, because masturbation (self-manipulation) had opened me up to spirits of perversion.
God is so merciful! I got saved and filled with the Holy Spirit as a teenager, Glory to God, and have served Him for the past 24 years. I’ve received deliverance before and have functioned in various positions in the churches I’ve attended in the Northeast U.S. I even studied about deliverance and was a part of a deliverance ministry for several years. I’ve never been married and do not have children yet. Because of this and other factors, I became very discouraged and stopped serving faithfully in church. Since 2003, poverty, rebellion, and pornography have been bondages in my life. I began tithing sporadically. I would ask God to forgive me and yet always fall into the same traps. I became unemployed with no benefits. I knew I had to fight all this God’s way and take the victory by force. (Matthew 11:12).
As I searched the web, I found out that through the generational lines and personal disobedience I was still walking in a curse even though Jesus has already redeemed us from it!
That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Galatians 3:14
Thank you for the www.JesusSettingFree.com website. Hallelujah! I called Pastor Bob and he prayed to break the curses off my life and warned me to stay away from sin and pay my tithes! God started cleaning me out and continued for several days. He’s also restoring my soul! My prayer life is renewed–the strength to fight is back! God is blessing me and there’s more to come!
